Time to pick up my old fashioned paper Bible again

Character-Encouraging

It is time to pick up my old fashioned Bible again. Not the one I can read on my Kindle, on my mobile phone or laptop, but the good old leather Bible in the old fashioned non-digital version.

Recently I was stuck in a place without my mobile phone, a tablet or a computer and that is when I discovered something… all I had there was my old fashioned leather Bible. A real Bible covered in leather. It almost felt old-fashioned to read it, but that is when I suddenly discovered something. I need to pick up my old fashioned Bible again. There is nothing wrong with reading the Bible on a Kindle or maybe on a computer or a cell phone, but to me all those tools are rather tricking me.

read my old fashioned bible again

It is time to read my old paper version of the Bible again!

The first time I read the Bible on the Kindle it felt so cool and I thought it would help me to read much more. The same was true when I read the Bible on my cell phone. But, with time the enthusiasm has disappeared, and you know what I have found out? Often I end up either reading some other book on my Kindle or I check my email on the cell phone and visit Facebook, instead of reading the Bible. There are so many distractions nearby for me as I read my Bible on such digital devices with an unlimited amount of other content and activities available. And that is why I need to return to my good old paper version of the Bible. If you have your Bible in your hands you cant use it to check out who liked your latest picture on Facebook. With your Bible you can’t check your emails or start reading another book instead. With the Bible in your hands you can do one thing… you can read it! And I guess I need to read the Bible, not just use devices on which I can read the Bible, but normally end up doing other stuff instead.

Probably most of you reading this article are much stronger than me, but to me all those digital devices which are meant to help and support me, have turned into distractions instead leading me to read much less in my Bible than I did before. That is why I need to return to my good old paper Bible!
